In the hills 8km inland from Paraty, this natural waterslide is a blast! The slick rock face sends swimmers plunging into an idyllic pool surrounded by jungle. Tourists who value their skulls should heed the posted warnings against surfing (ie standing instead of sitting), although local teenagers have mastered the technique and it’s exciting (if terrifying!) to watch. Afterwards, grab a caipirinha at Bar do Tarzan, across the swinging bridge above the falls.
From Paraty, take a local Colitur bus to Penha (R$4.25, 30 minutes), get off at the church and follow signs 100m downhill.
