The most iconic building in Počitelj is the octagonal Gavrakapetan Tower within the still part-ruined Utvrda (fortress) at the northern edge of the citadel. It's possible to climb within but for even better panorama…
Built in 1562, this large, beautiful mosque had its dome and minaret wantonly destroyed in 1993, but it has been meticulously rebuilt, with original colour left in its faceted squinches.
Počitelj's most central tourist restaurant is appealing enough in itself, but for prebooked groups of 30-plus it can also call into service a 'secret' saray (hall) where Tito once dined.
High above Počitelj's entrance gate, this 16m-tall tower used to tell the time but the clock and bell disappeared a century ago.
This octagonal tower is the iconic focus of the Počitelj skyline.
