While Sucre traditionally has been visited for its colonial architecture and wealth of museums, there are also plenty of worthy destinations in the surrounding area, most notably hiking in the Cordillera de los Frailes. Most tour companies can organize trips, with a few, like Condor Trekkers, more recommended than others. Some agencies now cater to adrenaline-fueled travelers with offerings such as off-road mountain, motorbiking and quad biking, paragliding and rock climbing.
Agencies are a dime a dozen in town and nearly all offer trips to Tarabuco (B$40 per person) for the Sunday market; many hotels and hostales can also arrange this trip. Make a point of comparing prices before you sign on the dotted line.
