A few kilometers outside town, this is the site of the original city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. The only thing left behind of the old city is an abandoned guardhouse. It's 2.5km south of the main plaza.
Locals give this place on the southwest corner of the plaza the thumbs up, but your arteries might not. The lunchtime buffet includes more salads and pasta in addition to meat.
Delicious juices and a good choice of mains as well as snacks such as tasty empanadas make this a solid choice. Service is friendly and there's an outdoor terrace right on the square.
Next to the church is a small museum with information about all 10 Jesuit missions in the area. The admission fee includes entrance to the church.
