The design, creation and production of artistic Diablada (dance of the devil) masks and costumes is the main focus of retail in Oruro. Av La Paz, between León and Villarroel, is lined with small workshops offering devil masks, headdresses, costumes and other devilish things. For herbal remedies and witchcraft items, head to the shops on Junín between Galvarro and Av 6 de Agosto.
The Super Feria street market takes over the streets surrounding Mercado Fermín López on Wednesday and Saturday. Near the train station, you'll find hawkers selling indigenous musical instruments such as cheap zampoñas (pan flutes made of hollow reeds) and charangos (traditional Bolivian ukulele-like instruments).
