2012 Olympics tickets on sale now

Tickets for the 2012 Olympic Games in London are on sale now.

Released 500 days before the event begins, tickets are priced from £20.12 to £2,012 with popular events demanding the higher prices.

It's not the huge rush for tickets that you might imagine. All ticket applications made between now and the closing date of 26th April 2011 will be treated equally; if an event is over-subscribed then a ballot will be held. UK or designated European residents can apply online, here's how:

1) Get yourself registered on the official London 2012 website

2) Once registered you'll be sent an email, click on the activation link included in your email.

3) Sign into your account and search for an event you're interested in attending.

There are also ways to apply offline. See the ticket eligibility web page for details.

Residents outside the UK or designated European countries can apply via various methods. See the ticket eligibility web page for details.

Ticket applications for 2012's Paralympic Games will open on 9th September 2011 and will follow a similar process.
