The journey will take you through the hearts of three western districts of Bhutan – Paro, capital city Thimphu and fertile Punakha valley which all exhibits strength and tenacity of a nation known for preserving its ancient Buddhist culture and living in harmony with its pristine natural environment. You will visit major historical and religious centers including 4-5 hour return hike to the most spectacular tourist attraction, Paro Taktsang which was originally built in 1692 on a sheer 800-meter rock cliff and 2 hour hike through the beautiful valley in Punakha. En route to Punakha stop at a sacred mountain pass Dochu La at (3,150m/10,335ft) from where you can see, if weather permits, grand panoramic view of some of the highest snow-capped peaks in Bhutan.

Mode of transportation is by Private SUV/Minivan/Bus depending on the size of your group. Day 1 - Arrive Paro International Airport - Excursion in Paro: Paro Altitude: 2,195m. Arrive at Paro Int'l Airport either by Drukair or Bhutan Airlines. You'll be received by our guide and driver and transfer you to the hotel. After you settle in the hotel and new surroundings, you'll be taken on your first adventure in this magical Kingdom. Visit 7th century Kyichu Lhakhang built in 659 AD in a single day, ancient watch tower which houses National Museum of Bhutan, Paro Rinpung Dzong which will give you insight on fine Bhutanese architecture. Leisure time. L D Day 2 - Hike to Paro Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) / Drive to Thimphu: Taktsang Altitude: 3,120m. Hike to the famed 17th century Paro Taktsang built on the face of a sheer 800m rock cliff. The hike is steep uphill climb through the ancient trails shaded by pine trees. In the afternoon, drive to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan and visit Bhutan Postal Museum - a great place for stamp collectors. At 5PM visit Tashichho Dzong 'Fortress of the Glorious Religion' and appreciated exquisite Bhutanese architecture. Distance to Thimphu 55 km, Time 1.5hrs, Thimphu Altitude 2,334m/7,655ft. B L D Day 3 - Thimphu / Punakha valley: Distance 74 km, Time 3hrs, Punakha Altitude1,200m/3,935ft. In the morning, visit 2 important landmarks in Thimphu - National Memorial Chorten built in 1974 in memory of Late 3rd King, Buddha Point where 169ft tall statue of Lord Buddha is built overlooking Thimphu Valley. Then drive to Punakha. En route stop at Dochu La, a scared mountain pass at 3,150m above seal level from where you can see grand view of some of the highest snow-capped peaks in Bhutan. Continue driving and visit 15th century Fertility Temple. In Punakha, visit the historic Punakha Dzong 'Palace of Great Bliss' and appreciate the fine Bhutanese arts and craftsmanship. B L D Day 4 - Punakha / Drive back to Paro: After breakfast, do 3 hour return hike to a beautiful mountain ridge where Khamsum Yuelley Namgyel Zangdog Pelri stands majestically overlooking the fertile valley bellow with glacial fed Mochu river meandering through the valley. After lunch, drive back to Paro. In the evening visit one of the farm houses in Paro and indulge in a home cooked dinner and locally brewed alcohol 'Ara'. If you are interested, you can enjoy and relax in a traditional hot stone bath (subject to availability) for a fee of about US$15.
