With a mission statement including the goals of establishing and managing a state-of-the-art veterinary clinic for wildlife and domestic animals in Belize, the Belize Wildlife & Referral Clinic provides educational opportunities and training for students, professionals and interested individuals. This nonprofit organization offers ongoing internships in wildlife medicine, rescue and rehabilitation.
Internships focus on wildlife medicine, rescue and emergency medicine and conservation, and are designed to provide students with real-world experience while supporting wildlife rescue and conservation in the field. Some interns are pre-veterinary or animal-science students, while others are veterinary students seeking clinical rotation credit in wildlife medicine.
Short-term internships ranging from two to six weeks for non-veterinary students are available from BZ$1900 per week (including lodging, breakfasts and airport pickup and drop-off), with reductions after the first two weeks. Various courses are available, and the clinic is interested in speaking with sincere potential interns and long-term volunteers.
