At times it’s possible to spot a few of these creatures. We also point out some homes that started to sink because of poor foundations and had to be forced out of their homes. It had to be abandoned and relocated. A very interesting point too is crossing our very own Golden Gate Bridge locally called the Haulova bridge. This bridge crosses over the old Belize River that was used in the past by the English loggers to transport the mahogany logs down from the interior of the country to the coast. We then enter Ladyville and in this neighborhood is located the international airport, brury for the local beer of Belize called “Belikin beer”. Ladyville is a fast growing community both industrially and in population. Along the drive heading to Altun ha which translates into English “Rock Stone Water “ will be the highlight of our visit. Hearing all the interesting facts of the ancient city will take you back in the past of how these people lived and acted. We are allowed to climb all the temples and the site encompasses 2.5 square kilometers. The earliest settlement dates back to 250 B.C. This was a healthy and rich ceremonial and trading center. Population estimated was about 8 to 10,000 inhabitants. We will take you back in the past, so please let us show you to the maya world of Altun ha.
