Although there are plenty of options for cheap street food, tacos and fry-jacks (deep-fried dough), at a sit-down place it's unlikely you'll pay less than BZ$50 per person – Ambergris Caye is easily the most expensive restaurant scene in Belize. That said, the island also offers the country's freshest seafood and most innovative chefs, so diners usually get their money's worth.
For the budget-conscious traveler, several small cafes in the town center serve simple meals that are easy on the wallet. There are also several taco shops that open in the morning and again in the evening serving tasty cheap meals for under BZ$10.
For a romantic evening out, travel up the coast by ferry for an exotic starlit evening at one of the North Island's excellent restaurants. You can expect unusual menus featuring excellent seafood dishes.
