Getting There & Away

Ostend Airport, 6km west of Ostend by bus 6, has summertime charter-only flights within Europe on TUI fly (www.tuifly.be).

Ostend has several stops on the DeLijn Kusttram line. The most convenient is Marie-Joséplein.

NMBS/SNCB trains run from Ostend's pretty train station, by the docks on Natiënkaai, to Bruges (€4.40, 16 minutes) continuing to Kortrijk, Antwerp via Ghent or Liège via Brussels.

Long distance buses operated by FlixBus stop on Mercatorlaan.

Getting Around

If you've driven to Ostend, you can park for free in Oosteroever (the east side of the harbour), then use the free passenger/bicycle mini-ferry that shuttles several times an hour across to the aquarium jetty in the town centre. If coming from the centre, it's 10 minutes' walk from the ferry jetty to Fort Napoleon. Earth Explorer is 500m beyond that, near the Kusttram stop Duin en Zee.
