Has anyone been to the Fazil Labyrinths recently? They are located in the village of Fazil, close to the Sheki train station. I cannot get any info on them other than that it is closed. For how long or since when are question nobody knows the answer to.
I am in Quba and spent today info-hunting at the bazaar/tourist info center. Nobody seems to know about Hajibala's in Xinnaliq, the one homestay that is rated high in LP. Does anyone know if it still exists?
Hi when crossing border between Azerbaijan and Georgia on the train, are passengers confined to their cabins for the hour plus each check takes (Azerbaijan and Georgia checks)?
This was the case on other border crossings I have en counted such as China / Kazakhstan or Kazakhstan / Russia (and others) meaning could not leave cabin for hour or hour & half while passport etc checking going on. So curious what the situation is on train between Azerbaijan and Georgia.
I have recently tried to visit Nardaran twice (on 28/4 and 2/5) and both times we found the road leading into the city blocked off by concrete barriers with soldiers (not police) in helmets, flak jackets and assault rifles at the ready. The soldiers did not speak much English, but they enquired where we wanted to go. When we said we wanted to visit the Rehime Khanim and Aga mosques, they gestured that they were both closed, and politely but firmly turned us away.
Does anyone know what is going on…
Hi catching train from Baku to Tbisili later this year - have read there is no food / no dining car on the train - can anyone who has travelled on the train recently advise if this is the case or not - thanks
Good morning good people,
What the best (convenient) way to travel between these cities? Is there a nigh train between Baku and Sheki? How about from Sheki - Kakheti region in Georgia. Does it make sense to stop in Sheki for 2 nights on the way to Georgia, or do we need more / less time ?
Hello all! I am an anthropology master student coming to Azerbaijan at the end of May for one week. I will be mainly stayin in Baku due to the requirements of the university. I am just searching a topic for my ethnographic research - it could be related to any aspects of culture, interesting groups and subculture... Do you have an idea, what could be interesting in Baku for such a small research? Thanks for ideas! Nuraiym
