Getting There & Away

The main route through the Danube Valley is the B33, a scenic road that links up all of the major towns and villages, including Krems an der Donau, Melk and Spitz. Alternatively, Melk can be reached in around an hour via the A1 west of Vienna.

Regular trains operate between Vienna and Melk (€18.40, 58 minutes) and Krems an der Donau (€18.40, 70 minutes), both fine bases for exploring the valley.
