My husband and I have booked flights to Salzburg for a week at the start of September. We're both big drivers and the plan is to hire a nice car and drive some alpine roads. We are experiences drivers and motorbikers who have already visited Vienna and don't want to spend a lot of time in towns. We did a similar trip in the Dolomites last year and had a great time driving, walking and enjoying lots of good beer and food. I've got a list of roads/areas that look like places we would be…
Planning a trip with my hubby to Germany and Austria for 14 days.
Ill be landing in munich at about 1.40 pm in the afternoon. From there I intend to go straight to Berchtesgaden and stay there for 3-4 nights. In Berchtesgaden, I plan to see the eagles nest. Any other things to do there? Is a day trip to Salzburg advisable ... if yes then what can I see there in a day?
From Berchtesgaden I will be taking the train to Hallstatt and stay there for 3-4 nights again. Whilst in Hallstatt…
I am travelling in Austria later this year, and I was wondering if there is any direct trains/buses from Salzburg to Hallstatt.
Further, is there any direct trains to Ljubljana from Salzburg?
I am planning to visit Austria in this May-June-July months (dates are not yet finalized). I am looking for a partner or partners who can accompany me on this trip and we explore the places together.
If anyone is interested then ping me then we can discuss the plan in detail.
Hi Thorn Tree,
This July I will be in Austria for six days split between Vienna and Salzburg. I would like to do a wine tour while in Vienna - any recommendations for a 28 solo female fairly fit (thus open to walking and biking tours) budget traveller?
Also open to suggested hostels in either city that are solo female friendly and not terribly expensive.
Hello everyone, I am not fit, in fact i just had a major health issue and still recover but im able-bodied and with correct diet im ok.
I decided to see more nature as i live in a very industrial place. So im flying to Austria soon. I was going to pick Sweden but I thought its too far/too risky, so im going to Austria instead.
My question is, if there are any day hikes I can do from Vienna, that are awesome and include maybe a lake, where I can go in the morning by bus or train and return in…
I'm an Austrian guy (21) and looking for a Partner (m or f) to hike some of the beautiful hiking trails in the austrian alps. I'm thinking about 2 or 3 days and sleeping in a tent or accommodation. I should be in summer but I don't have a fixed date in mind, at least it should be warm.
C U :D
I've been skiing for past 10 days in Austria- great snow this year. I am visiting Salzburg next for 3 days. Then I have 3 days free until my flight home.
I'd like to go out of Salzburg by train or bus approx 1-2 hours.... good scenery, a few hotels, restaurants, somewhere I can chill out...... I'm travelling solo.
Having researched, the Salzkammergut region or Berchtesgaden/Konigsee jump out. Any ideas?
Also are there ski resorts near Berchtesgaden/Konigsee? Maps say yes, computer says no. If…
My husband and I will be traveling from Switzerland to Mittenwald, Zur am See, Hallstatt, Semmering Railway, and Vienna at either end of May to middle June, or middle June to the end of June. We will be traveling by train, and would like to know if anyone knows if it is better to stay 2 nights in one location, and then move on, or would it be better to have a home base per region and train to hiking, and return to home base each day? We are in our mid-sixties, and would appreciate your thoughts…
Looking for a town to visit for 4 or 5 days for day hiking. We will be visiting in late June and enjoy mountain lakes, vistas, waterfalls, etc. Can do about 10 - 15 km per hike depending upon difficulty...we are in our 60's. Our current plan is to also visit Munich, Salzburg, and Vienna. Thanks!
