Blue Danube Airport Linz is 13km southwest of town. A direct shuttle bus service, bus 601, connects the Hauptbahnhof (€3.20, 22 minutes) with the airport hourly from 5am to 8.30pm Monday to Friday, with fewer services at weekends. Alternatively, there are hourly train connections between Linz and Hörsching (10 minutes, €2.30), a three-minute ride from the airport by free shuttle bus. Use the free phone at the station to dial 0800 20 66 00 for a pick-up. The service is very reliable and runs daily from 5am to 11pm.
The Schiffsstation is on the south bank next to the Lentos Kunstmuseum. From late April to early October, Wurm & Noé sends boats westwards to Passau, Germany (one way €27, 6½ hours, 2.20pm Tuesday to Thursday, Saturday and Sunday; 2.20pm Saturday early October) and east to Vienna via Krems (€59, 11½ hours, 9am Saturday).
Regional buses depart from stands at the main bus station adjacent to the Hauptbahnhof.
Linz is on the main rail route between Vienna (€36.20, 1½ hours) and Salzburg (€27.50, 1¼ hours); express trains run twice hourly in both directions.
Up to six trains depart daily for Prague (€45, 4¾ hours). Tickets are sold at www.oebb.at.
