After visiting the Kuenringerburg, where Richard the Lionheart was incarcerated, hike the Schlossbergweg (marked green) from there to Fesselhütte, about one hour by foot from the castle, to enjoy sausage, soup or wine at this forest tavern. A road also leads up here from Weissenkirchen.
The tourist office has a list of private rooms, pensions and Gasthöfe (guesthouses) in Dürnstein and neighbouring Oberloiben and Unterloiben.

There are some great eating options right across the budget spectrum in Dürstein, including some fine places with wonderful Danube views.
