There's a real diversity to the choice of accommodation in the Victorian High Country. Options for self-catering travellers include motels, rural cottages and winery guesthouses, while visitors on a budget can bush-camp, or stay in pubs and caravan parks. Overall, the area is relatively compact compared to the rest of Australia, and towns like Bright, Myrtleford and Beechworth make good hubs for day trips and further exploration with your own transport.
There are a number of free camp sites in the area; pick up a copy of the Free Camping Sites booklet ($2) from visitor information centres. It's also available online at www.towong.vic.gov.au/visitors/visitor-information.
