Metro Tasmania Buses run south from Hobart through Margate and Kettering to Woodbridge from Monday to Saturday. One bus tracks over the hill to/from Cygnet once daily on weekdays.
Tassielink Runs daily buses along the Huon Hwy from Hobart through Huonville, Franklin and Geeveston, extending to Dover on weekdays. Also runs from Huonville to Cygnet.
Dust off your eyeballs – the southeast is super-scenic! The views from the Channel Hwy between Hobart and Woodbridge via Taroona, Kingston, Margate and Kettering are terrific. The road continuing from Woodbridge to Gardners Bay en route to Cygnet is also a real show-stopper. If you've got a spare hour up your sleeve, the longer route from Woodbridge to Cygnet through snoozy Verona Sands passes close to the shoreline. The coast road from Cygnet to Cradoc is also worth a drive.
The ferry from Kettering to Bruny Island runs many times each way daily – it's a fun 20-minute ride across the D'Entrecasteaux Channel.
