Rooms are expensive in the towns along the Great Northern Hwy, though you will find camp sites and dongas at all the roadhouses and some pastoral stations. If you're heading along the Gibb, you better be tooled up for camping.

Feature: Get as Faraway as Possible

Suddenly come into a small fortune? Only got three days leave from your film set, boardroom or personal fiefdom? Then consider one of the exotique luxury wilderness camps hidden away along the rugged, inhospitable Kimberley coastline. Far from any road, access is only by air or boat so rest assured, there won't be any peasant backpackers, paparazzi or grey nomads in sight. With guest numbers kept to an absolute minimum, you should expect full five-star service, all the freshly caught seafood and champagne you can guzzle, sensational views, searing sunsets, lots of wildlife and inclusive activities like bushwalking, rock-art tours and boat cruises. There's usually a minimum stay and check carefully if air transfers from Kununurra or Darwin are included before booking. Needless to say, prices will dip during the Wet.

Faraway Bay Faraway by name and location, all meals and activities are included at this bush camp on the wild Kimberley coast. En-suite cabins with stunning views and private outdoor showers sit above a remote bay. Includes a free cruise to the nearby, spectacular W-shaped King George Falls. Unless you're coming by boat, you'll need a return charter flight.
