Welcome to Salamanca Place & Battery Point
Ground zero for most visitors to Hobart, the city's waterfront precinct is a broad concrete apron skirting Sullivans Cove, dotted with excellent restaurants, floating fish punts, yachting berths, piers, museums, high-end hotels and apartment accommodation. The sea breeze blows through, and the atmosphere is bright and buzzy. Along the cove's southern flank is Salamanca Place, an improbably well preserved row of 1940s sandstone warehouses, now home to galleries, cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars and live-music venues. Salamanca Market has erupted here every Saturday morning since 1972.
