Tahune Adventures

Outdoors in Geeveston & Around

About 29km west of Geeveston, Tahune Adventures' centrepiece is the Tahune AirWalk, a 600m-long, wheelchair-accessible steel walkway suspended 20m above the forest floor. One 24m cantilevered section, all but dangling over the Huon River, is designed to sway disconcertingly with approaching footsteps. Vertigo? Ground-level walks include a 20-minute riverside stroll through stands of young Huon pine.

Other activities at Tahune Adventures include rafting or kayaking the Huon and Picton Rivers ($125), and the Eagle Hang Glider. There's also a cafe, lodge accommodation (dorms/doubles/families from $64/128/160) and a lone cabin (from $190) that gives you exclusive night-time entry to the AirWalk.

The name Tahune derives from Tahune-Linah, the Aboriginal name for the area around the Huon and Kermandie Rivers.

The AirWalk was damaged by a bushfire in January 2019, and at the time of writing was closed to visitors, with plans to reopen in late 2019.
