Not a pool as such, family-friendly Murray Rose (named after a champion Olympic swimmer) is a large, shark-netted enclosure that is one of the harbour's best swimming spots. As one of the closest harbour beaches to the city, it attracts an urbane cross-section of inner-eastern locals. A boardwalk runs around it, and there are two sought-after floating pontoons.
From New South Head Rd, access it via Woollahra Council's town hall or pleasant Blackburn Gardens. The Redleaf Cafe (open 7am to 4pm daily) is on-site for coffee, snacks and lunch.
The neighbouring Seven Shillings Beach is a stretch of sand that runs around the Point Piper waterfront. From here there are spectacular views towards the Bridge.
