Hot tip: don't invite disdain and display any ignorance/curiosity by asking what an 'aristologist' is (a person refined in the art of growing, preparing, cooking and consuming food). Instead, stay in the staff's good books as they plate up exciting organic, locally sourced dishes on a weekly changing menu. The beef tortellini with wild garlic is simple and superb.
The Aristologist itself occupies a nondescript former butcher on Summertown's main street. Blink and you'll miss it – but that's part of the appeal. It also makes organic wine.
