Welcome to Stirling Area
The photogenic little villages of old-school Stirling (population 2950) and one-horse Aldgate (population 3350) are famed for their bedazzling autumn colours, thanks to the deciduous trees the early residents saw fit to plant. Oddly, Aldgate has also been home to both Bon Scott and Mel Gibson over the years. On a less rock 'n' roll tack, the 6km Aldgate Valley Nature Walk runs from Aldgate to nearby Mylor; follow the bandicoot signs from the little park across the road from the Aldgate shops (map from www.ahc.sa.gov.au).
Towards the city from Stirling, Crafers (population 1970) has a drive-through vibe but a seriously good pub...and access to lofty Mt Lofty Summit!
