Our professional guide in our clean comfortable mini bus will collect you from your hotel on the morning of the tour. Hotel pick up times start at 7.30am and it is our aim to depart Launceston by 8am. Water and light snacks are complimentary on the bus and Lunch will be provided a little later in the tour Leaving Launceston and heading west we will arrive for a short 15min driving tour of Sheffield, the town of Murals, this will also be the chance for a toilet break. Heading out of Sheffield we will start our climb up and along the western tiers to reach the top of the plateau on our route to Cradle Mountain. On a nice clear day Cradle mountain itself will become visible at certain points of the drive, so keep your eyes peeled out the windows so you don’t miss out on these stunning views. We aim to arrive into Cradle Mountain Visitor centre by 10.30am for a short break. A short 15min drive into the National park we arrive at Dove Lake where we will embark on a fully guided walk. This walk is undulating but the well-defined and man-made track makes it accessible for everyone. The track weaves it way through rainforest and past quartzite beaches and returns the same path. Along the way we will visit Glacier rock to see remnants of the last ice age. The walk is around 1 hour in duration. Don’t forget your camera as the vistas are amazing. We will leave the awe of Dove Lake and Cradle mountain views and visit Waldheim (Forest home) Chalet at around 1-1.30pm. First, we will have some lunch which will be a healthy spread of fresh rolls, wraps, Tasmanian salad fillings, Tassie cheese and choice of local meats. After lunching our guide will take you through the chalet and tell you all about its history of being the very first accommodation in the Park. If time allows we will do the short Weindorfers forest walk, a short cool climate rainforest, around 20min in duration. We start to leave the central area now and a quick look out the rear window for the last views of Cradle mountain up close….We will aim to leave by 3pm on-route to Launceston. On our way home to Launceston we will stop by the Ashgrove cheese factory where you can sample the various cheeses made there plus other Tasmanian made treats. We aim to be starting the hotel drop offs by 5.30pm.
