A welcome sight after the hair-raising drive down from Mt Hotham, this 100-year-old pub successfully combines historical character with a cool, modern fit-out. It has a smoker to cook up Southern BBQ dishes, as well as venison burgers and Harrietville trout. Especially cosy is sitting around the fire pit on the deck during cooler months. There's a concise kids' menu.
It also offers inexpensive off-mountain accommodation in comfortable motel rooms (doubles from $120).
