Welcome to Ravenswood
Ravenswood is a tiny gold-mining town whose fortunes have fluctuated over the past century – it's a quiet, provincial little place these days, which is just how many locals like it. Located 89km east of Charters Towers, the town hit a minor tourism upswing in the 1970s following restoration of its 19th-century heritage architecture, and a more general upward swing after the subsequent reopening of the gold mine. It's now best known for its two grand hotels, one of which supposedly houses one of Queensland's most active resident ghosts. The Birriah are the traditional owners of the land.
