Top choice Tours

in Outback Queensland

This one's a little off-the-beaten-track, and we love it all the more for it. Angus Emmott, one of the region's most respected naturalists, runs natural history tours on his station, Noonbah. At once a working cattle station and a fascinating outback environment alongside Lochern National Park, Noonbah gets you up close and personal with the outback in a unique way. Advance bookings are essential.

There are over 200 bird species recorded here, as well as other wildlife. You can also camp at the station ($10 per vehicle).

To get here, take the Windorah–Longreach road. Some 105km southwest of Longreach or around 211km northeast of Windorah, there is a turn-off to Tonkoro Rd, signposted to Noonbah and Lochern National Park. Noonbah is 54km along this track (11km beyond the western boundary of the national park). The road is unsealed and fine for 2WD vehicles except after heavy rains.
