Herberton Historical Village Day Trip from Cairns Including Kuranda and Barron Falls

Rain, hail, or shine you will depart your Cairns accommodation at 8am stopping to admire the view from Kuranda lookout from the heights of the temperate rainforest lookout over the Great Barrier Reef National Park. Visit the famous world renown Barron Falls, a spectacle on any day in itself, even if the falls are not in flood.Hungry? Then maybe a Devonshire morning tea included at the famous Jacques Coffee Plantation is the order of the morning.Now comes the highlight of your day - a fully guided tour of the Historical pioneer village of Herberton, plus an old fashioned cooked lunch. You can also try your luck at tin mining.Next it's time to follow the very scenic Crater Valley and Herberton Ranges along the Hwy to Mt Hypipamee and be overwhelmed with the depth and sight of the ancient crater formed thousands of years ago. Along the way discover hidden truths of the rich Indigenous heritage, and historical timber, railway, mining, war and dairy industries of the early pioneers.In the late afternoon it's time to enjoy the sunset as you wind our way gently down through the steaming rainforests of the scenic Gillies or Kuranda ranges towards Cairns. Cairns Full Day Tour Including Lake Barrine, Herberton and Granite Gorge Wallabies Park

Lake Barrine is a popular freshwater lake that is surrounded by World Heritage National Park. Lake Barrine was formed when a large volcano erupted over 17000 years ago, leaving a huge open crater that filled up with water to create the lake that tourists and locals alike visit each year to wildlife spotting, picnics and of course bushwalking and hiking around the volcano craters rim.The Lake Barrine Tea House has also been a big draw card for their fresh home made scones jam and cream and other home made goodies that you can enjoy whilst you are looking out over the Crater Lake.  Make sure to visit the nearby Lake Eacham for a refreshing swim in the cyrstal clear waters if you would like to cool off after exploring the Crater Lakes.It takes about 1 hour before arriving at your second destination, the Atherton Tablelands. On the way, you will see the fascinating natural scenery. The landscape is like a beautiful pastoral painting, puffy white clouds against endless blue skies with cattle across the vast prairie and endless horizon.You will arrive at Herberton Historical Village at around 1:30pm. It has received numerous awards and it’s recognized as Queensland’s most important open air museum as it maintains the original building bricks and historical relic from 19 centuries. The Herberton Historic Village collection currently features over 50 original out house buildings with intact interior displays, original machinery and vehicles, plus thousands of antique items and period memorabilia. A guided tour has been arranged on the day. You will have 2-hours’ free time to discover the history and enjoy your afternoon tea at the Bakerville Tearooms.About 4pm, arrive at Granite Gorge Nature Park. This privately owned nature park (12km from Mareeba) occupies an alien landscape of humungous granite boulders, caves and turtle-inhabited swimming holes. There's wildlife galore, including possums, dingoes and quolls; the park's especially famous for the friendly rock wallabies that hop along the boulders. Granite Gorge is their natural habitat and this is the only place where you can feed the wallabies in the wild so not surprisingly, they are the first thing that most people go looking for when they arrive at the park.You will be spending about 1 hour at the Granite Gorge Nature Park.Depart from Granite Gorge Nature Park at 5pm. Travel to Cairns Central via Kuranda Range. Arrival time is about 6pm.
