Welcome to Byfield
Byfield is a village in Byfield National Park, a well-concealed landscape of rare diversity: empty sand dunes running up to rocky pinnacles, wetlands and semi-tropical rainforests. It’s difficult to get a sense of the place from the winding main roads that cut through pine tree plantations. A 4WD will here will get you to remote hiking paths and isolated beaches beautiful enough to warrant a much longer stay.
The park is a 40km drive north from Yeppoon. North of Byfield, the Shoalwater Bay military training area borders the forest and park, and is strictly off limits.
