Off to one side of the main Port Arthur visitor centre is Felons, a reasonably upmarket bistro which takes over from the cafe after dark. Creative dinners with a seafood bias reinforce Felons’ catchy slogan, ‘dine with conviction’. Hungry carnivores should try Cape Grim braised beef cheek or the grilled Doo Town venison with Tasmanian ginseng. Reservations advised.

An After Dark Pass ($69) combines a two-course dinner at Felons with a Ghost Tour of the historic site.
