After cruising down the Swan River and across the open ocean, you’ll arrive on the island, ready to begin your full-day adventure. Explore the island by bike (the only form of transport – cars are not allowed), discover secluded beaches, snorkel among the reefs and meet the local wildlife. You have the option to depart from Perth or Fremantle.
When booking, select your ferry departure location—either Perth or Fremantle. If you depart from Fremantle, your day trip starts with the 25 minute high-speed ferry ride to Rottnest Island. If you’re departing from Perth, enjoy a fully commentated 1-hour cruise along the Swan River to Fremantle, where the river meets the Indian Ocean.Pass by local landmarks and the majestic houses of Millionaire’s Row. After a quick stop to collect passengers in Fremantle, it’s a short hop across the ocean to Rottnest. Affectionately known as Rotto, the island has a relaxed atmosphere, pristine beaches and great snorkeling, diving and surfing, making it a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike.When you arrive at Rottnest you can pick up your hire bike from the friendly crew as you disembark from the ferry, and then take your time to explore the island at your own pace. You may wish to settle in at one of the 20 different bays and 63 secluded beaches or perhaps you would like to visit the iconic Wadjemup or Bathurst Lighthouses, visit attractions like Lomas Cottage, Rottnest Island Museum or Pilot Boathouse, or even ride out to the West End, where you can stroll down the boardwalk, admiring the coastal views. Look for fur seals at Cathedral Rocks and keep your eyes out for humpback whales when they're in season! (late September – November). If you have selected to a lunch upgrade, head to Karma Restaurant for your buffet delights. When you select this day tour package, you are free to enjoy the island independently until it’s time to catch the ferry back to Perth. Your day trip then ends with the return ferry ride to Fremantle or Perth.
