Northbridge has a raucous rep for big pubs, loud clubs and brassy strip joints. But scratch the surface and you'll find a new breed of small bars here, delivering a more intimate booze experience: start your explorations at the sneakily sequestered Sneaky Tony's (make sure you've checked Facebook for the secret password).
- Arthouse flicks When the sun sets over another sunny day in Perth, Northbridge is party central – but local film buffs also come here for art-house movies at Cinema Paradiso (cheap tickets on Tuesdays) or the excellent Rooftop Movies (on a rooftop!).
- Evening promenade Half the fun of a visit to Northbridge is the people-watching. Follow the locals into Chicho Gelato, order a cold cone and take a slow promenade up and down William St: on any night of the week, the human scenery is entertaining.
- PICA Bar Sure, William St is where all the boozy fun is – but if you're more inclined towards quiet conversation than public intoxication, the bar at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts is a top spot for a quick sip and some occasional live tunes.
