Leave the car behind: parking around Leederville – particularly around Oxford St, which is where you want to be – can get tight (big car parks around the supermarket have the first hour free, with a ticket). Leederville train station is right at the bottom of Oxford St, which means that catching public transport (to use some colourful local parlance) is a 'piece of piss!'
- Fancy a swim? Lake Monger may look tempting, but it's shallow, soupy and full of turtles, carp and algae (and dozens of people have drowned here over the years). Head for the sparkling Beatty Park Leisure Centre instead.
- Leederville tapas Some excellent tapas bars have popped up in Leederville in recent times: stop by Pinchos of Duende for some blue-cheese mushrooms and sangria.
- Angove St Oxford St is Leederville's thriving main avenue, but locals might also point you towards emerging Angove St in the suburb's northeast (technically part of North Perth). Wander over and check out the shops and cafes.
