This brewery, 20km south of Nelson Bay, is the creator of cult recipes such as the award-winning Murray’s Grand Cru, a hybrid of Belgian trippel and golden strong-ale styles, along with inventive seasonal flavours. The brewery has a family-friendly feel with plenty of open space, bocce and live music on Sunday afternoons. Beer is a key ingredient in the restaurant meals, too.
Also on-site is the Port Stephens Winery, with an expansive cellar door. A shuttle bus runs to/from Nelson Bay on weekends, and the $5 fee includes a brewery tour.
