This far-flung resort has lost some of its sheen, but remains an interesting place to stay, with motel-style rooms, self-contained suite, and a popular camp site with plush safari tents (book way in advance over winter). Don't miss a swim in the pool, a drink at the bar and dinner at the bistro (mains $26 to $40 − try the roo!).
Bike hire, scenic flights, guided walks and Aboriginal cultural experiences also available.
The restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner, offering a menu of modern Australian cuisine. Poddy Dodger’s Bar serves bistro-style meals and light snacks in the evenings.
All air-conditioned rooms at Resort Wilpena Pound feature a private en suite bathroom with a hairdryer. Satellite TV, tea/coffee making facilities and a refrigerator are provided in all rooms. The safari tents are air-conditioned and feature private bathrooms and luxury amenities.
Nestled amongst native pines and abundant wildlife, this resort offers an idyllic base to explore the national park. Barbecue facilities are situated in the native gardens. Guests also have access to laundry facilities and an on-site convenience store selling souvenirs, postcards and essential supplies such as water, fuel and gas.
