The Lake St Clair Lodge operates the Lake St Clair Ferry between Cynthia Bay and Narcissus Bay (one-way adult/child $40/20) at Lake St Clair's northern end. The ferry departs Cynthia Bay three times daily (9am, 12.30pm and 3pm) year-round (or on demand), reaching Narcissus Bay about 30 minutes later and returning at 9.45am, 1pm and 3.45pm. Winter departures are by demand and advance bookings are essential. Rates are for a minimum of six people; the six-person rate applies to bookings of less than six people.

For those wishing to use the ferry service at the end of Overland Track hikes, bookings are essential; you'll need to radio the ferry operator when you arrive at Narcissus Bay to reconfirm your booking.

You can also ride the ferry from Cynthia Bay to Echo Point (adult/child $35/17), and then walk back to Cynthia Bay (two to three hours).

Cradle Mountain Coaches offers bushwalker shuttles between Lake St Clair and Cradle Mountain ($100 per person for four or more passengers, $400 for the entire shuttle). These are popular with Overland Track walkers who leave their vehicles at Cradle Mountain and need to return there from Lake St Clair.

Car & Motorcycle

If travelling north from Bronte Park to Great Lake (35km), note that the road is mostly gravel. Though it’s usually in a good condition, it’s worth checking with a local before you depart.
