Parkes & Barton

In Canberra, all roads don't lead to Rome but to Capital Hill, atop of which sits the imposing Parliament House, overlooking the entire city basin. Surrounding the hill, in ever increasing circles, are the suburbs of Parkes, Barton and Yarralumla. Their wide and leafy avenues are home to a variety of government buildings, from departmental offices in Parkes and Barton to embassies and diplomatic estates in Yarralumla. The lakeside is also host to many of the city's top sights, including the National Gallery of Australia, National Portrait Gallery and Questacon.
