Enjoy the best high tea in Tasmania at heritage listed Hawthorn Lodge. High Tea is taken on the veranda overlooking the country garden. Hawthorn Lodge was the original homestead of the Shoobridge family who established the first hop farm in Australia. Today the hops still grow in the fields. The garden was designed in 1869 as an English style garden to provide a contrast and escape from the surrounding Tasmanian bush. Guests are free to walk around the gardens. The country style high tea is served as four courses and includes finger sandwiches, a selection of savories and Marie's award winning home made scones and raspberry jam with Tasmanian clotted cream. The last course a selection of sweet treats.  We use our own fresh produce from the garden or local produce from the Derwent Valley and all is home made. Hawthorn Lodge is 45 minutes from Hobart and reached by driving up the beautiful Derwent Valley.
High tea at Hawthorn Lodge is served every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 11am to 4pm. High tea works well as a replacement for lunch.Hawthorn Lodge is in the small village of Bushy Park about 45 minutes from Hobart.
