Hiking Habit provides affordable guided walking tours to national parks in and around Melbourne. Why sit in a bus for hours travelling to destinations crawling with tourists, when you could come on a personalised small group tour to pristine locations where few tourists go? The chances of seeing native Australian animals like kangaroos, wallabies and echidnas are very high on all of our tours. On any of our tours, your friendly and knowledgeable local guide will drive you safely to and from the national park, provide lots of interesting information about the local area, and improve your chances of spotting native Australian wildlife in its natural habitat.  Our tours are all approximately one hour's drive from Melbourne city, meaning less time driving and more time enjoying nature.
Visit: Hiking Habit, Melbourne, VictoriaThis tour departs at 1pm every Monday, Thursday and Friday afternoon from the undercover Taxi Rank on St Kilda Road between Hamer Hall and the Arts Centre 200m south of the Yarra River. You will be driven for one hour to Grant's Picnic Ground in the Dandenong Ranges National Park. From there, the guide will lead you on a 7 kilometre loop walk through lush mountain ash temperate rainforest. The walk takes approximately 2 hours, walking on undulating gravel trails. We take plenty of breaks to look for wallabies, wombats and echidnas and to listen for the intriguing mimicking call of the Superb Lyrebird or the laughing kookaburra. No food is provided on this tour and a moderate level of fitness is advised.
