Year’s first typhoons headed for Taiwan, Japan and South Korea

A series of tropical storms that formed in the South Pacific are making their way toward Taiwan and are expected to affect Japan, Hong Kong, eastern China and South Korea this week. A sea warning was issued for Tropical Storm Linfa, which is expected to make landfall in southern Taiwan this week. Meanwhile, Japan was braced for high winds and extreme rain from Tropical Storm Chan-hom on Monday. A third storm, Tropical Storm Nangka gained speed in the South Pacific north of Guam and was expected to head toward Japan later in the week. Read more:
