World's most northerly beer brewed on Svalbard

A brewer on the Svalbard archipelago, Norway, has brewed up what's believed to be the world's most northerly beer.

Following the abolishment last year of an 80-year ban on brewing on the Arctic archipelago, beer-maker Andreas Hegermann Riis moved to Svalbard's capital, Longyearbyen, in February and began brewing the suds using water from a local glacier, Bogerbreen. The beer, called Spitsbergen IPA, will be launched at Coal Miners' Cabin pub next week. Read more:
