World’s longest train journey comes to end of line

A freight train has arrived in Madrid after spending 20 days on the world’s longest train journey. The train left eastern China on November 18th and travelled through eight countries on its 8000-mile inaugural trip. The journey has been described as a test trip for a potential new ‘silk road’ of trade by rail. The train will return to China in 2015 carrying Spanish goods, including ham, olive oil and wine.
