World’s first underwater Orthodox church is being built in Crimea

The first underwater Orthodox church in the world is being built in the Black Sea just south of Sevastopol.

According to a local news service, it is sponsored by Russian Orthodox Church and motorcycle gang the Night Wolves. The church will be dedicated to St Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors. The first part of the building has already been put in place – it’s a 3m-high cross styled as a ship’s anchor. Read more:
