World’s first underground park planned for New York

Inspired by the success of the High Line, New York’s elevated park built on a disused railroad, developers are now looking at doing a similar thing underground. The proposed Lowline would be the world’s first underground park and would transform a 116-year-old defunct trolley station below the Lower East Side into a subterranean public space filled with plants and and filtered sunlight. The park, which is expected to cost around $60 million and take five years to construct, would also host exhibitions, concerts and other activities. Read more:
