This amazing guesthouse in Ecuador could be yours ...for just $29
A family of four are offering one incredibly lucky winner a chance to own their eco-guesthouse that lies at the gateway to the Amazon Basin in Ecuador.
Rebecca and Doug Greenshields decided to give up on their ‘real life’ in 2005 to travel through South America. When they stumbled across a half-built construction site on the outskirts of Banos, they decided to make it the base for their new life. The result is La Casa Verde, a hugely popular eco-guesthouse that has welcomed thousands of guests and provided an incredible home for their family of four.
For Rebecca, the most surprising thing about the town was how welcoming everyone was to new arrivals. “We immediately felt comfortable and safe when moving there”, she told Lonely Planet. “Ecuador has been on the radar of ex-pats looking for a better quality of life, for many years now. They’re all proud of the beautiful place they were brought up in (or have chosen to live in) and are happy to give advice, show you around and introduce you to new people.”
Since they moved to the town, they’ve welcome two children into the family, learned Spanish and created a profitable business. Now the Greenshields have decided to make a big move back Down Under and are offering one lucky person to chance to win their enviable lifestyle.
For every purchase of Doug’s e-book Back to Earth, you’ll get a entry to a draw where the grand prize is the entire guesthouse business, land and US $10,000 to get you started. The book is priced at US $29 and people are welcome to purchase as many books (and therefore entries) as they’d like. Initially the amount of entries were capped at 250,000, but since then Rebecca and Doug have decided to limit the number of entries to 50,000 meaning your odds could be increased fie times. The minimum limit is set at 35,000 books being sold.
The business is profitable and debt-free and the new owner can be as hands-on - or off - as they choose. It’s currently being leased so you could simply earn money from the venture or follow in the Greenshields’ footsteps and fully embrace the Ecuadorian lifestyle.
For those who desire it, the win could mean a complete turnaround in the direction of their life. While the winner will be chosen at random, Rebecca hopes that they’ll be someone who is not afraid to do something different and make the best out of the opportunity.
“There are thousands of people who would benefit immensely by winning the lifestyle. Anyone who feels like two weeks of vacation per year isn’t enough of a reward for all their hard work during the other 50 weeks", she said. It could be ideal for parents who want more time with children, someone looking to retire early or simply someone who isn’t able to afford property at home. “They may feel that their current situation is not very fulfilling to them", Rebecca said, "but for whatever reason don’t have the means, or a reason to change it."
The couple will be on hand in Ecuador to sign the ownership of the guesthouse over to the winner and can help with acquiring a visa and anything else you may need. The prize draw will take place at 9 pm GMT on Saturday, 29 April on Facebook Live and you can enter up until an hour beforehand by purchasing a book online.
