A new website makes reserving camping spots at California's state parks a breeze
If visiting California is on your bucket list, planning the trip has now been made easier thanks to a new reservation system that has been launched for reserving campsites, lodging and tours. Called ReserveCalifornia, it will enable visitors to book campsites and lodging six months in advance from the current date.
California State Parks has launched the website, and a total of 110 parks can now be booked through it. A further 41 campsites and other features will be added on a phased basis by March 2018. Off-highway motor vehicle recreation, boating activities, horseback riding, on and off-road cycling, hiking and rock climbing are some of the recreational activities enjoyed in California's state parks. You can also book tours of historic landmark mansion, Hearst Castle, which is situated on the central coast. William Randolph began building it on his ranchland overlooking the village of San Simeon in 1919, and by 1947, the hilltop complex included a twin-towered main building, three guesthouses, and 127 acres of terraced gardens, fountain and pools.
California is a perennially popular spot as there is so much to do, see and explore there. You can visit Hollywood, San Francisco or San Diego, for example, and take in galleries, cafes, bars and festivals. The Golden State produces over 90 per cent of the nation’s wine-making grapes, and has twice as many breweries as any other state. Thanks to the leadership of Californian conservationist John Muir and his Sierra Club, the beauty of California's national and state parks continue to impress visitors today, making them ideal places in which to camp.
Reservations can be made online on www.ReserveCalifornia.com.
