Visit Norway website drops Trolltunga pics after tragedy
Following the tragic death last week of an Australian woman at Trolltunga, one of Norway's most famous natural landmarks, the country's official tourism website has removed photos of people posing for photos there.
Kristi Kafcaloudis, 24, slipped and fell several hundred meters from the rock promontory when she was having her photograph taken. Speaking of the decision to remove the photos from the website, spokesperson Marianne Mork said, 'Visit Norway have decided to remove some of its pictures featuring tourists posing on the tip of Trolltunga, in order to not inspire others to pose the same way. Our opinion is that many people underestimate the danger.' The attraction has become hugely popular with visitors to the country in recent years; just 500 people visited in 2009, while an estimated 40,000 did so last year. Read more: thelocal.no
