Vintage plane flyover planned for VE Day in Washington DC

It will be all eyes to the sky on the 8th of May. Over two dozen vintage planes, including a P-40 Warhawk and B-17 Flying Fortress, will fly in formation over Washington DC to mark the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day. The commemorative flyover will begin near Leesburg, Virginia, and will follow the Potomac River to the capital where the planes will then appear in the sky over the Lincoln Memorial, National World War II Memorial and Washington Monument before flying out over the US Capitol. The event is part of other celebrations marking 70 years since the end of WWII. For one day only the aircraft will be on public display on the 9th of May at the National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, just south of Dulles International Airport. Read more:
