Vietnam’s Halong Bay to get international airport
One of Vietnam’s most popular attractions is set to become more accessible to travellers, according to local reports that a new international airport will be developed close to Halong Bay.
The new airport is expected to be developed on Van Do Island, about 50km from the Unesco World Heritage site. At present, travellers wanting to visit Halong Bay usually fly into Hanoi’s Noi Ba International Airport before taking a three- to four-hour overland trip to the turquoise bay famous for its dramatic limestone pinnacles.
